West

We have returned from our Western Adventure--seeing the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Crazyhorse, Evanston, WY, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone.  While in Wyoming we attended PRA Conference and went on a tour of the Economic Drivers of Wyoming which include Energy, Tourism, and Agriculture.

Badlands National Park

Badlands were impressive.

Lots of different kinds of land formations.

Everyone says:  "You gotta see Wall Drugs".  We had ice cream cones there.  Wall Drugs got its start by offering free ice water to tourists to get them to stop there, and the rest is history.  Lots of motorcycles there as Sturgis Ralley had just ended.

Mt Rushmore - this is the closest we could get - looking up their noses.

This has all been built since I was there in the 60's.  At that visit I remember looking across an abyss and almost even with their faces.  Now you are always looking up, and not nearly as good a view.

Riding the turntable.  This was used to turn the locomotives and send them into the Roundhouse for work.

Another view of the Roundhouse.

Visiting the Guild Ranch with Kelly and Jody Guild.  Notice the pink barn in the background.  The pink siding was cheap, so they bought it.

Buffalo on the range in Yellowstone

Bubbling Sulphur Caldron in Yellowstone

Old Faithful - not nearly as impressive as I expected.

The beautiful Grand Tetons.

We only saw the East side - wonder what the West side looked like.
