Melissa's former mother-in-law and Caelin and Georgie's grandmother passed away Sunday night after battling cancer for many years.

Beverly Ann (Heeley) Amazeen (aka Nana,BevCat,Auntie Bevie, Mum,Hun) lived a remarkable, albeit unassuming life, blessed with love,family and amazing friendships. A 26 year cancer survivor, incredible mother of three, “Nana” of four and devoted wife of 51 years, Bev died on Sunday, July 24. She was 74.

Born on June 29th, 1937 to George and Margaret (June) Heeley, of Southborough, she was raised a devout Catholic, attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School, Marlborough and St. Michael’s Academy, Hudson. She earned her B.A.Degree in elementary teaching at Worcester State College in 1959 and earned a Master’s Degree in counseling from Framingham State College in 1981

.Beverly was a kind, compassionate woman whose ability to love and be loved transcended common levels and she inspired anyone whose life she touched. This unique ability, along with moral and spiritual convictions was a driving force both professionally and personally.

Professionally, she dramatically impacted many lives through her careers as a teacher in the Norborough and Marlborough School Districts and as an Area Program Manager/Counselor with the Department of Children and Families and the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network. She was also a talented artist and the long time President of the Northborough Art Guild. Bev also taught in the Master’s Program at Framingham State College for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband,George of Marlborough; her sons, Curt of Virginia Beach, VA; Craig and his fiancé Kimberly Weich of Sacramento, CA; and her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Richard Price of Grafton, MA. She also leaves four loving grandchildren, Caelin, Aaron, George and Alex; her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wayne Prouty of Auburn, MA; her brother and sister-in-law, George and Judi Heeley of Brunswick, ME; and her beloved golden retriever, Oliver.

The entire family and all of Beverly’s close friends want to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Leroy Parker, Dr. Jay Harris and all the wonderful doctors and nurses of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, July 27 from 4-7 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 28, at 9:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery, Southborough, MA.
