On Friday evening, July 3, we had a family celebration to observe Claire's 4th birthday and Independence Day.

Claire got a new "groovy girl" bike for her birthday.

She was Little Miss Princess for a day and had balloons and princess birthday cake.

Mason was a groovy guitarist and played Happy Birthday for us to sing.

After eating "too much" birthday cake, we went fishing at the Lake of Riverbend.

The fishing derby was won by Derek who caught the biggest fish.

Derek holds the fish while Brian figures out the best way to get him "off the hook".

Kathleen caught two fish as did Mason.

A little basketball scrimmage before dinner - Kathleen, Will, Daren, Brian, Colby, and John.

Daren asks Jakie, "Do you want chocolate or white?" and he's all smiles.

We closed the evening with a fireworks display by Derek and helper, Mason. I love this video! Claire is laughing and giggling over the fireworks and makes the rest of us laugh.
