First birthdays are special events, not only for the honoree, but for family and friends as well.

This week we visited the Roselle Townsends to help them prepare for Deven's first birthday. Hubby helped Daren stain the deck and front porch and do the yard work. I supervised and critiqued their work and saw that, in Monica's absence, her standards were met.

Monica chose a redwood stain for the deck and front porch. Daren stains the spindles.

Hubby works on the spindles on the front porch. The redwood stain blends well with their brick and shutters.

Their new patio set and umbrella is a good match.

Deven, although not walking, stands alone when she doesn't realize it.

Daddy and Deven on her first birthday.

Mason and Deven join the fun.

Even Casper sports a party hat for the occasion.

Casper tolerates Deven's lovin' better than most cats his age.

A fluffy party hat and her own little cake make a special day.

Ava, Sarah, and Dannie watch Deven and her Mommy open gifts.

Mia gives a hand while Mom and Bella watch.

Today's pinatas are all about "pulling the right string" to release the candy.

Trampoline fun in the backyard before the rain started.

I think all "party girls" look like this on the morning after, but this one's still smilin'.

Gracie, Deven, and Kathleen playin' with the new toys.

I love John's t-shirt: "How can I get better at video games when I'm stuck in school for seven hours a day?"
