We watched the Fighting Illini pummel the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday 76-45 before a sell-out crowd at the Assembly Hall. This game was not nearly as exciting as most previous Illini/Indiana games.
Lou Henson observ-ed his 77th birthday and was honored along with the 1983-84 basketball team. Henson retired in 1996 after 21 seasons at Illinois.

The game on Saturday with the Hoosiers pales in comparison to the excitement of the March 5, 1989, game at Indiana. I still remember the excitement of watching this game on TV. Jay Edwards hit the game tieing basket for Indiana with 2 seconds remaining on the clock, BUT THIS GAME IS NOT OVER!
