MEMORIAL TO SMOKEY

Smokey - June 1988 - September 7,
2006

Smokey arrived at our house in June of 1988. Colby, Daren, and Melissa had gone with our neighbor, Linda Furrer, to an area farm where there was a new litter of kittens. They picked out a little black fluff that was the runt of the litter. A few days later their dad took them back to the farm to bring him home. We named him Smokey.

We had trouble getting him to eat, and then he began having seizures. Brian took him to the vet to have a feeding tube inserted. We soon brought him home, and he did pretty well. However, he continued to have seizures occasionally.

When he got frightened he would climb trees, but didn't seem to know how to get down. We rescued him several times from trees and our roof. He enjoyed resting in high places: roof of our car, table top, foot of our bed, etc.

On Thursday evening he met with an unfortunate accident. I know he is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
